Youthie (France)

Youthie's music transports you from the sun-drenched landscapes of Andalusia to the tranquil shades of an Indonesian forest. French musician Juliette Bourdeix, also known as Youthie, embarked on her musical journey at the tender age of 6 when she began learning to play the trumpet. Her conservatory education in Paris refined her classical and jazz talents. Starting at the age of 17 she started immersing herself in dub and reggae styles and played in the band Natty Princess for 8 years. While studying musicology, she ventured into Balkan and Asian music, and learned accordion and flute while working as a street musician.

Collaborating with various producers and labels, she explored Jamaican dub more deeply and founded Youthie Records in 2019. That same year, Youthie teamed up with beat maker Macca Dread to produce the genre-blending album Nomad Skank. Her second album, 2022’s The Roots Explorers, featured Latin, Balkan, Middle Eastern and even Celtic influences mixed with deep dub reggae grooves. Youthie’s soulful grooves, cross-cultural flavors and exotic, mellow trumpet sound have earned her an ever-expanding audience across the globe.
