Wouter en de Draak is a Dutch folk band made up of guitarist Joris Alblas and accordion player Wouter Kuyper. Their repertoire draws on rich northern European traditional styles such as mazurkas, schottisches as well as Breton and Irish folk. The duet first came together in 2014, with Wouter, a popular Dutch name, signifying the driving force behind the music and "de Draak" (the dragon) representing the duet’s desire to ignite the imaginations of their listeners and breathe fire into their souls through their music. They released their eponymous debut album in 2018 followed by the album Zonnewacther (Sunwatcher) in 2022. With their passion for storytelling and unwavering commitment to their craft, Wouter en de Draak is poised to make an indelible mark on the Dutch music scene and beyond.
