Featured on Putumayo's Reggae Routes, "Baila Sola" (Dances Alone), from Maru Jota’s debut album Literal, is about a woman on a journey of self-discovery who is celebrating her freedom and uniqueness. “Look at her,” Maru Jota sings, “She dances alone / Spinning, she flies free without thinking / Look at her, she sings, dances always like this / Without caring if someone might be watching / She knows she is imperfect, improvised, so human / She knows she makes mistakes, takes risks, and she's happy / Suddenly she started dancing alone / Following her own music, her own rhythm, her own beat.”

On Maru Jota's Global Party song, “Me Encontré” (I Found Myself), she sings about the importance of discovering and celebrating your true self. “If you disconnect from your nature / You won't be able to know / What could have been / Where everything seems easy, maybe it is easy / Let's see / If everything seems simple, it must be simple / I'll know soon enough.”
