Ona Mae is an anthropologist and world traveler whose musical journey began after becoming a mother, an experience that transformed her perspective on life. She discovered music as a deeply personal form of healing, realizing her voice had the power to heal others as well. Drawing inspiration from folkloric traditions, Ona Mae's music is intimate and sensitive, blending Mediterranean and Latin American influences. In 2022, she released her debut album Canción Acuarela, a collection of healing songs. Ona Mae is currently preparing her second album, Cerca del Sur (set for release in 2025), where she incorporates the kamélé n'goni, a West African harp she has played for ten years. The album merges African sounds with Mediterranean accents for an evocative musical experience.

On her original song “Lo Que Ando Callando” (What I Keep Quiet) Ona Mae brings a contemporary perspective to the classic Mexican ranchera. “Our love shone so brightly! / And how much silence remains! / I could not feel anger / For those lovers who love / If they knew how much love we gave / They wouldn't believe how far apart we are.”
