
Ojo de Buey is a Costa Rican reggae band formed in 2007 and fronted by lead signer Cayeto that blends classic Jamaican style reggae with Latin, rock, and Afro-Caribbean influences. The band takes its name from the "ox eye" seed of the local macuna plant, a symbol of good fortune in Costa Rica. Their music delivers uplifting messages about life, love, and resilience, resonating with audiences across Latin America. Their debut album, Sabor en un Tiempo Cruel (2011), garnered critical acclaim. They followed up with Repelente pal’ Dolor (2013), solidifying their place in the Latin reggae scene. The band has performed at international festivals and collaborated with notable international artists.

Their song “Jugada de Pared” refers to the “wall pass”, a common soccer play where one player passes the ball to a teammate and immediately receives it back, often to bypass an opponent or advance the ball strategically. “Like a wall pass / I pass it to you and you give it back to me / Let go of the vibe; it feels so good / That’s how we keep moving forward / Because in this life you see people who never understood / True perfection lies within simplicity.”
