Mister Leu & the Nyabinghers is a collective of musicians from southern France who are passionate about 60s and 70s Jamaican music. Formed in 2018, their styles include ska, reggae, rocksteady, mento and calypso. David Leriche, aka Mister Leu, founded the group after 18 years as a member of the French ska band 100gr de Têtes and two years in the backing band of the "Godfather of Ska" Laurel Aitken. Leriche named the group in honor of Princess Nyabinghi, the legendary African namesake of the ritual drumming music used in Rastafarian ceremonies. They released their debut album, Born to Reggae, in 2019 and have opened for artists such as Calypso Rose, Max Roméo, and Sona Jobarteh.

“Dieguito” was first released as an acoustic track in 2019, but this full band ska version is from the group’s 2024 second album, Born to Skank. It features a dub breakdown by French producer Éole Dub and is a tribute to the soccer legend, Diego Maradona. “He comes from Argentina and loves to party / He is the golden boy / Hand of God / Full of magic.”
