Marta Gómez is a Colombian songwriter, winner of two Latin Grammy Awards and founder of the international campaign "Nothing for War." After graduating from the Berklee College of Music, she has developed an extensive musical career which has placed her as one of the most interesting singer-songwriters on the world music scene today. Marta performs a repertoire of original compositions based on a vast amount of rhythms from Latin America. Marta mixes the joy of the Caribbean with the nostalgia of the Andes, adding jazz and pop elements, taking South American indigenous folk music—from Colombian cumbias and bambucos to Bolivian carnvalitos and Peruvian festejos—into a new realm.
Currently, Marta resides in Barcelona, Spain, from where she launched the international campaign ‘Para la Guerra, nada’ (Nothing for War), a musical project with a very clear message: no human effort must be dedicated towards the production of guns and the initiation of wars. The project has collaborated with musicians all over the world to create verses for a song that celebrates human imagination and creativeness.
