Lirah is a duo formed by Lívia Guedes and Ramon Murcia, accomplished performers and composers deeply involved in Brazilian music and currently living in France. In 2020, during the initial Covid lockdown, they solidified their partnership, leveraging their years of experience in music, theater, and television to embark on a journey of refining and crafting original compositions. With a poetic and laid-back style, the duo introduces audiences to fresh songs that draw from their Brazilian roots while seamlessly blending with elements of global sounds. Their style features flavors of bossa nova, samba, reggae, jazz, forró and Afro-Brazilian rhythms. Lirah’s instrumentation usually includes flute, guitar and Brazilian folk instruments along with subtle electronic elements.

Written by Murcia and Dudu Godói, “Naquela Rede” (In That Hammock), featured on Global Café, borrows elements of Northeastern Brazilian folk music and mixes it with a laid-back contemporary sound. “When she left / She left a longing / My heart ached / My world shook / The house crumbled / The hammock never swayed again / Will I ever see you again someday?”
Their Global Celebration track “Boto Fé” (Have Faith) is about maintaining faith and optimism, and believing that regardless of the current situation, things will improve and happen at the right time. “I put faith in it / That life will be light / On the path to travel / Where the wind blows, I'll go / I put faith in it / I'm open-hearted / Let it happen / It will be in the right time, I know.”
