Uruguayan singer, pianist, and composer, Javier Da Luz embarked on his musical journey at the age of seven, initially singing in carnival troupes practicing candombe, a folk music and dance style rooted in the African traditions of Uruguay. Candombe involves a payada, an improvisational contest between two guitar-playing singers, which Da Luz practiced alongside his father. At eleven, Da Luz began his piano studies at the Robert Schuman Institute in Montevideo, Uruguay. There, he completed his education in organ and music theory, honing his skills to become a proficient pianist and composer. Currently residing in Switzerland, Da Luz engages in various musical projects in addition to his solo career, which began in 2022.
