Black AD, born and raised in Mali, emerged onto the music scene with a passion for singing and a strong commitment to promoting African beauty and traditions. Inspired by legendary artists such as Oumou Sangaré and Nomcebo, she embarked on her musical journey, blending Afropop with a Mandingo touch and her powerful voice.


While still a student at the Conservatoire des Arts et Métiers Multimédia Balla Fasséké Kouyaté in Bamako, Black AD's talent and charisma caught many people’s attention. In November 2022, she won the prestigious Prix Découverte award from the French radio network RFI with her song "Mali," taken from her EP Idjidja: Volume 1. This song, celebrating the beauty of Mali and advocating for unity and respect for traditions, resonated deeply with audiences, especially amid the country's ongoing challenges. In August 2022, she released volume 2 of her EP Idijdja, further showcasing her versatility and lyrical depth as she explored themes of youth, social cohesion, love, and the importance of living together. 


Featured Songs:

Her 2023 single “Dounia Kow,” showcased on Putumayo's African Celebration, features Dr Keb and encourages perseverance and faith in the face of change and challenges. The song emphasizing the importance of education, wisdom, and trusting in God's guidance. “Don't let anything hold you back,” Black AD sings, “And don't fear the unknown / But trust in the path that God leads you on / The future is bright, keep moving forward.”


Her song "Mali" is featured on the collection World Beats, where she sings in praise of her native land. Black AD sings “Beautiful Mali, we are the people of Mali. We unite with one another / Beautiful Mali / One people, one goal, one faith, one destiny, one peace / Honor and respect are deeply rooted here / Let's move forward together in harmony.”
