Antonymes is an artist from North Wales who creates evocative compositions that merge ambient minimalism with profound emotional depth. Inspired by ambient and minimalist music pioneers such as Brian Eno, Harold Budd and Mortan Feldman, Antonymes’ music explores themes of quietness, emptiness and time. Each piece emerges as an introspective journey, grounded in the artist’s surroundings—North Wales—a place both real and dreamlike, its landscapes inspiring music that feels like a map of mountains, streams, and woods. The name "Antonymes" reflects a fascination with the nameless, derived from the French word "antonyme," signifying "against a name." For Antonymes, music is a deeply personal endeavor, first created for oneself and then shared with those willing to join the introspective and atmospheric experience.

Speaking on his song “A Feeling of Being Closer,” the anonymous artist behind Antonymes states, “This piece came into being quite accidentally, which is common in most of my music. ‘Honour your mistake as a hidden intention.’ Often a sound will inspire me, then closing my eyes I let the initial idea create itself. I think it’s true to say that all of my music is a product of my surroundings.”
